How can I clear cookies?

Cookies are tiny files that your browser stores for a variety of reasons. They can keep you logged into your favorite websites instead of demanding you re-enter your password every time you click on a new page. Here's how we use them.

Often it makes life more convenient to have cookies, but sometimes it doesn't. Maybe your browser is misbehaving, and you want to try clearing the cookies as a troubleshooting step.

How do I clear cookies in Chrome?

To get started clearing your cookies on Chrome (our recommended browser), here are the instructions (there are instructions for other browsers here).

  1. Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. Select Clear browsing data.
  4. In the dialog that appears, select the checkboxes for the types of information that you want to remove. In this case, just "Cookies and other site and plug-in data".
  5. Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select beginning of time if you want to delete everything.
  6. Click Clear browsing data.
